CUMC Sack Pack Mission – Fall 2014

Our first week of Sack Packs was a success.  A fast-moving team of 27 volunteers packed all 300 sacks in less than an hour.  The sack packs were delivered to Calvin Donaldson School the following day, where they were distributed to children who are at risk of hunger during weekends.  

Disaster Rebuilding Mission Trip September 2014

Your Disaster Rebuilding Ministry is on the move again. We are traveling to the North Carolina coast to support rebuilding efforts from Hurricane Irene (August 2011) and two recent tornados (EF3) April 25th and May 17. 

Remembering our College Kids

Christ Church likes to keep up with our college students by sending them notes and care packages while they are away at school. 

WOW - Women of Worth

All women are invited to join this very lively and active group of women Wednesday, August 13, for a get acquainted brunch and the introduction of our exciting studies, service opportunities, and extracurricular fun for this semester. 

Youth Fall Retreat

As football season kicks into gear and the weather turns cool, the students at Christ Church are dripping with anticipation for one of the most fun, life-changing, and spiritual events that we have: Fall Retreat!

L.I.F.E. Now Enrolling

ImageLIFE is an educational and enrichment program for persons 50 years and over.  The Fall Session begins on Thursday, October 2nd in the Adult Building.

Partnership Meals

In 2012, two teams began providing a monthly meal to the residents of Partnership’s Family Violence Crisis Center.  The Center accepts families in crisis at any time help is needed. 

Tai Chi for Arthritis

Kim Davis, a certified teacher for TCA, will lead this class on Thursday evenings beginning September 11, 6:00-7:00, in the Trinity-Woodmore Chapel.

South Sudan Citizen Visits Christ Church

On Thursday, July 10th Christ Church had the privilege of hosting Mandela Wani Michael from South Sudan in the Youth Center. Mandela was a child solider who fought against the forces of North Sudan. 

Abaco Trip 2014

The Salt & Light Youth Choir returned Sunday, June 22nd from their mission work in Marsh Harbour, Bahamas.

Stop Hunger Now!

Friends of Stop Hunger Now,

We are delighted to announce that meals from your meal packaging event have been shipped in a container with 270,864 meals and other supplies from our Atlanta warehouse. 

Gardening for God

Our mission is to learn how to grow healthy fruits and vegetables, and give them to people who are in need of them. 

Pantry Pile-Up

Our Pantry Pile-Up item for September is cleaning supplies (windex, Lysol wipes, etc.) These items will go to Partnership’s domestic violence shelter. 


Building Fund Update

Giving to the Building Fund is exceeding our pledges!  If you continue to give at this level, we can totally pay off our building debt in just over ten years at projected interest rates.  This is our plan, so please continue to give as you are now giving.  If you have not yet started giving to the Building Fund, please do so.  To see a graph of giving to date vs. pledged amounts by month, click here.

Prayer Resources

Additional prayer resources are now available from the church website. They include guides to books, as well as online and audio tools for prayer. 

Room In The Inn Volunteers

Room In The Inn is a local shelter for women and their children who are in need of short-term food and lodging.  Christ Church provides the evening meal 2 times a month. 

Calling Hospitality Servants

Openings are available in the donut cutting and coffee ministries.  Donut ministry involves cutting and setting out donuts for two services; requires 1-2 hours about once per quarter.  

Baked Blessings

Baked Blessings, a ministry of Christ Church, is an opportunity for individuals or families to bake cookies or brownies for people who are homeless.

iStudy - Churchwide Study

iStudy: Basic Bible Study for Christians  by Rev. Mark Flynn is a daily devotional using key passages from the Bible. You will decide how much time you can devote to this study.

Information Desk Volunteers

Christ Church’s information desks are an entry point for visitors and assist members in learning more about church offerings and schedules.

South Sudan Presentation

David and Becky Hall will show lots of pictures and tell about their recent trip to South Sudan on Wednesday eveningSeptember 24, from 6-7 pm in the Sanctuary.  


Stop Violence Give Hope

The Partnership for Families, Children and Adults will be offering a lunch-time education event for people interested in learning more about Domestic Violence in our community.

Food For Thought

This year our high school youth (Grades 9-12) are going to Lake Junaluska, NC for their annual mission trip.

Care & Share Ministry

ImageThe Care & Share Ministry provides meals for families in our church that are going through a crisis and are not involved in a Sunday School class or small group.   

Let’s Sing from Memory

Is a ministry for those in our community with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. 

Young Adults Group

Christ United Methodist Church is very blessed to have an active and energetic Young Adults Ministry. This ministry is geared towards 18-35 year olds.

Ladies Supper Club

The Ladies Supper Club will be meeting Tuesday, October 7th at 6:00 p.m. at Big River Grill on Hamilton Place Blvd.

Follow the Orphanage's Progress

We have created a blog to help keep everyone up to date on the progress of Grace Home, the orphanage being built in the South Sudan.

Christ's Chauffers

There are members of our congregation who have difficulty finding transportation to various medical appointments.  If you would be willing to be a part of our “Christ’s Chauffeurs” ministry, please contact Debbie Hafling at 718-0377.
