Can you imagine how difficult it would be to not be able to afford any presents for your family at Christmas? Thousands of families in Chattanooga will face the holiday season without enough income to purchase gifts for their children. 

 

Youth Choirs Christmas Celebration

The Middle School & High School Choirs will join together on Sunday, December 7th at 7PM, in the Commons, for a night of Christmas Celebration. We will share some of our favorite Christmas songs and have a time of worship together. Please come and join us!!

 

Christ Kidz Live Christmas Program

ChristKidzLive will present "Back to the Manger" on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 6:30 in the Sanctuary.

Christmas Eve Eve Service

This year we will have our Christmas Eve Eve service on Tuesday, December 23rd at 7p.m. in the sanctuary. 

Christmas Party for the Beth

Each year Christ Church hosts a Christmas Party for the children and youth that participate in the after school program at the Bethlehem Center.  This year the party will be Monday, December 8th in the multipurpose room from 5-7. 

Math and PE Teachers Needed

We will conduct a workshop for teachers in South Sudan May 18 – 22, 2015.  If you are interested in going on this mission or want to know more, phone Pastor David Hall at 240-0069 right away for details.

Alternative Gift Market

Sometimes during the holiday season we can forget about what really matters in our world. The commercialization of Christmas encourages us to purchase materialistic things for all of our loved ones. 

Women’s Ministry Christmas Dinner

CUMC Women's Ministry annual Christmas dinner will be held on Monday, Dec. 1st at 6:30pm in The Commons. This year's theme: "What's so Great About an Old Fashioned Christmas?" 

Christmas Tour of Homes

Save the Date!  Mark your calendar now for the 14th Annual Christmas Tour of Homes.  Thursday, December 11th from 6:00-9:00 pm.

L.I.F.E. Now Enrolling

ImageLIFE is an educational and enrichment program for persons 50 years and over.  The Winter Session runs from January 8 - February 26 in the Adult Building.

 

Information Desk Volunteers

Christ Church’s information desks are an entry point for visitors and assist members in learning more about church offerings and schedules.

Back and Joint Care Pilates

Join us for Pilates classes on Thursdays at 5:15 in the Chapel. (*Note:  classes will not meet on November 20 and 27, December 25, and January 1.)

Mustard Tree Ministry

Christ Church needs to update the electronic mailing list for all current Mustard Tree volunteers. New volunteers are welcomed as well!  

WOW - Women of Worth

Women of Worth will do a 3-week study of Liz Curtis Higgs’ The Women of Christmas  beginning Dec. 3, 10:00 – 11:30, in the Youth Center. Contact Cathy Turner for more information 892-9363.

 

Partnership Meals

In 2012, two teams began providing a monthly meal to the residents of Partnership’s Family Violence Crisis Center.  The Center accepts families in crisis at any time help is needed. 

Tai Chi for Arthritis

Kim Davis, a certified teacher for TCA, will lead this class on Thursday evenings beginning September 11, 6:00-7:00, in the Trinity-Woodmore Chapel.

Mediterranean Cruise

As a follow-up to our iStudy journey in the Bible, Rev. Mark Flynn and Dr. Cathy Turner invite you to join them for a journey through the steps of Paul, September 9-18, 2015.

Inviting others to worship and other activities at Christ Church is easy, but it is also a very, very important thing for all of us to do.  

Gardening for God

Our mission is to learn how to grow healthy fruits and vegetables, and give them to people who are in need of them. 

Pantry Pile-Up

This month’s Pantry Pile-Up item is Carta bus vouchers. Finding affordable transportation is a huge issue for many needy persons in Chattanooga. 

 

Building Fund Update

Giving to the Building Fund is exceeding our pledges!  If you continue to give at this level, we can totally pay off our building debt in just over ten years at projected interest rates.  This is our plan, so please continue to give as you are now giving.  If you have not yet started giving to the Building Fund, please do so.  To see a graph of giving to date vs. pledged amounts by month, click here.

Room In The Inn Volunteers

Room In The Inn is a local shelter for women and their children who are in need of short-term food and lodging.  Christ Church provides the evening meal 2 times a month. 

Calling Hospitality Servants

Openings are available in the donut cutting and coffee ministries.  Donut ministry involves cutting and setting out donuts for two services; requires 1-2 hours about once per quarter.  

Baked Blessings

Baked Blessings, a ministry of Christ Church, is an opportunity for individuals or families to bake cookies or brownies for people who are homeless.

iStudy - Churchwide Study

iStudy: Basic Bible Study for Christians  by Rev. Mark Flynn is a daily devotional using key passages from the Bible. You will decide how much time you can devote to this study.

Breakfast With Santa

This Year's Breakfast With Santa will be Saturday, December 6th from 9 am to 11 am. It will be held in The Commons, and Santa will be there for Pictures and to greet the children. 

Tri-Octaves Christmas Concert

Join us on December 5th & 6th at Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 E. Brainerd Rd. for the Tri-Octives presenting 'A Nostalgic Christmas' .  

"One Of Us"

On Sunday, December 14th, at 9:30 & 11a.m., in the Sanctuary, the CUMC Sanctuary Choir, Salt & Light high school choir, and an orchestra of local musicians will combine to present, “One Of Us.” 

Christmas Eve Candlelight Services

Our church family will once again celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with special Christmas Eve Candlelight Services. 

Metropolitan Handbell Concert

The Metropolitan Bells is an advanced community handbell ensemble consisting of auditioned ringers from the greater Chattanooga area.  They will perform a concert at Christ UMC in the sanctuary on Thursday, December 11th at 7:30 PM.

Book Review Group

Care & Share Ministry

ImageThe Care & Share Ministry provides meals for families in our church that are going through a crisis and are not involved in a Sunday School class or small group.   

Let’s Sing from Memory

Is a ministry for those in our community with early to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. 

Young Adults Group

Christ United Methodist Church is very blessed to have an active and energetic Young Adults Ministry. This ministry is geared towards 18-35 year olds.

Women's Covenant Group

Follow the Orphanage's Progress

We have created a blog to help keep everyone up to date on the progress of Grace Home, the orphanage being built in the South Sudan.

Christ's Chauffers

There are members of our congregation who have difficulty finding transportation to various medical appointments.  If you would be willing to be a part of our “Christ’s Chauffeurs” ministry, please contact Debbie Hafling at 718-0377.
